About

I’m a Brooklyn-based yoga teacher and professional opera singer. I was born in Anchorage, Alaska, but have lived in eight different cities across the United States. I began my yoga journey over 15 years ago, out of curiosity. I developed a more regular and intentional practice about 10 years ago, and began to notice how yoga improved my general well-being. I noticed how a more consistent practice helped me to manage performance anxiety and to better understand my body. While I continued practicing for these benefits, I also learned that yoga has the power to help me connect to my deepest, most authentic self. At an even more personal level, my yoga practice led me to better understand and further appreciate my South Asian roots. I teach yoga to share discoveries, to connect with others, and to help others connect with themselves and their voices on a deeper level.

I completed my 200 hour teacher training courses in Spring 2020 just before the world shut down due to Covid. I later completed my 500 hour training in 2021, as well as a certification in Heather Lyle’s Vocal Yoga Method. My 500 hour training was at Atmananda Yoga NYC, registered with Yoga Alliance. I have also received a certification in Restorative Yoga, and have taken Yin, Pranayama, and Anatomy trainings and courses. I have been teaching since late 2020, and my knowledge of yoga continues to grow and evolve every day. I am always seeking to learn as I share my practice with students.

I teach accessible but challenging yoga to students of all levels and body types. I focus on healthy alignment, working with each person's unique body and movement patterns. I encourage students to exercise their own sense of personal agency, and to celebrate the strength and beauty each one of them inherently possesses. My students have my undivided attention, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to watch them grow. As a certified Vocal Instructor, I teach yoga to singers with an emphasis on breath awareness, addressing the common areas of tension in singers via curated yoga asana and sounding. I lead group and private classes with a resonant, soothing, and colorful voice.
